Hats off to winners at Market Easter Bonnet Competition

Two lucky children kicked off the Easter Bank Holiday in style at the Harborough Market Easter Bonnet Competition last Friday. A dazzling array of bonnets were paraded in front of the judges and hosts Harborough FM, with chicks, bunnies, flowers and eggs adorning many of the clever creations.  The winner of the 0-6 category was 5 year old Dylan Angar with his fabulous bonnet. The winner of the 7-12 category was a fabulous effort by 7 year old Jessica Deathridge who designed a fantastic Easter bunny bonnet.  Both winners won a brand new bike from Harborough Market operators, Market Place, with all entrants receiving a colouring book and Easter egg. One of the judges, Jayne Cleaver, of Selvey Jewellers was delighted at the response from families in the town. “It’s really nice to see the effort that the children have made with their bonnets,” she said. “It was great fun judging the competition; all of the entries were brilliant so it was great that everyone won a prize!”  Ha...

Market Place makes generous donation for Carlisle

Market Place have arrived in Carlisle as part of the Easter Celebrations, bringing a fantastic 5-day International Market to the city center. There is an abundance of tasty global flavours and unique craft for the entire Bank Holiday.  Market Place and traders enjoy visiting Carlisle and other cities throughout the year and even more so when they discover ways in which they can give back to the local community. Market Place Managing Director, Allan Hartwell has brought a cheque for £1,000 to donate to the Cumbria Flood Recovery Appeal on behalf of the Cumbria Community Foundation. National Spanish Paella Day: Bella Paella

To celebrate the National Spanish Paella Day, we are presenting Bella Paella! The authentic Spanish family business travels all across the UK and Northern Ireland throughout the year, allowing thousands of people to enjoy their traditional family recipe! Business owner Julian Jimenez started trading in February 2004 and uses local products from Spain where his family are from. The ingredients include condiments and chorizo, meat such as pork and chicken, and vegetables. As Julian's family live within mainland Spain, their paella has a greater meat focus despite fish being the traditional ingredient. However, when Julian visits coastal cities, he visits local fisheries and buys fresh fish which is then used that day in his Paella, cooked in front of the customer. The original Paella recipe has been handed down through Julian's family and indeed came from his Grandmother who sadly passed away at the very impressive age of 102! Market Place will be returning to Gallowtree and Humberstone this April for another celebration of Culture! From Wednesday 20 th - Sunday 24 th April, Leicester will be playing host to over 35 different traders who have come from all over the world, bringing an array of tastes and unique crafts! The City Centre is going to be swamped with a fantastic atmosphere for this five-day event which is sure to offer something for everyone. Harborough Market has gone from strength to strength since re-opening in 2014 and has already won 2 awards including NABMA'S ‘Best Small Indoor Market 2016’ and awarded as Best Independent Retailer at the Niche Magazine Business Awards. We are now delighted to announce the Harborough Market has been shortlisted as a finalist for Retail Business of the year Award at the Leicester Mercury Business Awards 2016. These awards aim to celebrate success, recognise achievement and highlight the innovative people and companies in Leicestershire. The awards will consider who is boosting the economy and making a positive contribution to the local community they work within.
