Hats off to winners at Market Easter Bonnet Competition

Two lucky children kicked off the Easter Bank Holiday in style at the Harborough Market Easter Bonnet Competition last Friday.

A dazzling array of bonnets were paraded in front of the judges and hosts Harborough FM, with chicks, bunnies, flowers and eggs adorning many of the clever creations.

The winner of the 0-6 category was 5 year old Dylan Angar with his fabulous bonnet.

The winner of the 7-12 category was a fabulous effort by 7 year old Jessica Deathridge who designed a fantastic Easter bunny bonnet.

Both winners won a brand new bike from Harborough Market operators, Market Place, with all entrants receiving a colouring book and Easter egg.

One of the judges, Jayne Cleaver, of Selvey Jewellers was delighted at the response from families in the town.

“It’s really nice to see the effort that the children have made with their bonnets,” she said. “It was great fun judging the competition; all of the entries were brilliant so it was great that everyone won a prize!”

Harborough Market is open 8am to 5pm Tuesday to Saturday, and 9am to 3pm for the popular Sunday Antiques Market.
