A World Market for a World Class Event


As the World Snooker Championships comes to the closing weekend at the Crucible in Sheffield the award-winning Global Village Market will be rolling into to town to crown a fantastic two weeks in Sheffield City Centre.

Fantastic traders from around the World will be setting up stall over the May Bank Holiday weekend between Thursday 27th April to Bank Holiday Monday 1st May 2017.

Fargate, Town Hall Square & Peace Gardens will again be bursting with life, colour and vibrancy creating a fantastic family friendly atmosphere, offering visitors a unique opportunity to shop around the World and try something different right in the heart of Sheffield. And as the Market is a big hit with many of the snooker players you may even be rubbing shoulders with a world superstar and who knows you may chalk up a bargain.

Just some of the delicious flavours which will be drawing in visitors to the International event include Catalan tapas, Greek gyros, a Traditional German Schwenkgrill selling Bratwurst and Currywurst Sausage, French crepes, a Thai noodle bar and even Ostrich and Kangaroo burgers so Hop along and join us this Bank Holiday. Put some heat in your day where can try some exotic food from South Africa including Barbequed Boerewors Rolls, barbequed Sosaties (meat and veg skewers in a Cape Malay marinade), Bobotie with Yellow Raisin Rice, Vetkoek. If your feeling really daring then you must try the Chilli Bites (deep fried floury balls of HOTNESS!) as well as sauces and spices.

And whilst you amble around the stalls sampling some of the great Fresh Food products you can relax and browse some of the great Craft and Gift stalls including South American Jewellery and Knitwear, Italian Silk Scarves, Handmade Amber, crystal and gemstone jewellery and of course the famous Dutch Plant Garden selling a huge array of shrubs, bulbs, beautiful plants and trees with some great garden ornaments, what more could you want perfect for giving your garden a spring clean!

Thursday: 09:00 to 19:00
Friday to Saturday: 09:00 to 17:30
Sunday: 10:00 to 17:00
Bank Holiday Monday: 10:00 to 17:00

World Street Food Village
If you are visiting the Crucible why not also visit our Continental Street Food Village which will be set up outside of the World famous Crucible Theatre from Thursday 27th to Bank Holiday Monday and will be open till late each evening. So if you are going to watch a match “take a break” and avoid the Cue and grab some amazing street food it’s a great way to relax and enjoy yourself before the game.

Harborough District Council is offering new food businesses the chance to test their business ideas for free at their award winning Harborough Indoor Market. Harborough Market, which is operated by Market Place, is participating in the high profile, Love Your Local Market Campaign led by the National Association of British Market Authorities.
