Market Place is delighted to return to the maiden city with a huge International Market this July. Arriving for the much-anticipated Clipper Ships Festival next month, traders will be located on Queen’s Quay and will be offering a great selection of products from across the globe.
During the 8-day festival visitors can enjoy the very best international flavours and crafts from our traders. Savour some hot smokey Paella cooked to an authentic Spanish family recipe, enjoy a delicious Bratwurst or Currywurst sausage cooked on the huge traditional German Schwenkgrill or a traditional French crepe with one of the many tasty toppings on offer.
Tastes from closer to home include Snowdonia Cheese and Man of Aran Fudge offering over 20 different flavours of fudge, all homemade in Ireland. If you fancy indulging in a light bite why not try the very popular Dutch Pofitjes or if you’re looking for adventure take a bite out of an exotic meat burger from Meats of the World.
There will also be plenty of crafts and gifts to discover including hand knitted woollen clothing from Peru and hand made South American jewellery. And for the sailors there will of course be a range of nautical themed hats including pirate costumes and toys, the perfect way for families to get into the true spirit of the Clipper Ships Festival!
Market Place Operations Manager, Chris Hulley is excited to return to the much-anticipated Clipper Ships Festival:
‘This will be the third time Market Place has operated such a great Continental Market as part of the Derry Clipper Ships Festival. There is always such a great atmosphere at the event with so many families exploring and enjoying all the great entertainment and flavours on offer.’
