Trader Profile - Business Name - Blackthorn Foods

Business Name: BLACKTHORN FOODS
Trader Profiles: Christmas Markets 2016
Products - Blackthorn Foods is a family business based in Belfast. We make a handmade fudge. Our fudge is made in the traditional way, in small batches in open pots. We use only natural ingredients and all our milk and butter is sourced from local cows.

We manufacture an extensive range of gluten free flavours. We don’t use any artificial flavourings, for example we use a real Jamaican rum in our Rum & Raisin fudge and not a flavouring. Our range of fudges are available in a selection of pack sizes and gift boxes.

Business History - Blackthorn Foods is a family business based in Belfast in Northern Ireland. We specialize in the making of award winning handmade fudge. Three sisters Cathy, Jenny and Dorothy spent 18 months researching the market, endless hours over the stove and finally in 2004 Blackthorn Foods was launched

About the business - We pride ourselves in producing a high quality handmade fudge made in open pots in the traditional way. Unlike many commercial fudge manufacturers our range of fudges are produced in small batches, hand beaten, hand cut and then wrapped. This gives our fudges a unique taste and texture that wins awards year on year. We make a range of 15 flavours, ten of which have been awarded a Great Taste Award.

What are you looking forward to about the Christmas Market? - We can not wait to return to the Belfast Christmas Market. We love the festive atmosphere and meeting all the local people.

Is there anything special you are bringing to the market?- If you thought you couldn’t eat fudge because of all the dairy ingredients, think again! In 2015 we launched a range of Non Dairy, Soya free and Gluten free fudges.

The fudges are available in four flavours and have a creamy smoothness which allows Vegans and those with special dietary requirements to indulge without having to compromise on taste.

Quote from yourself about the Christmas Market- Need some stocking fillers or just having a sweet craving– come and sample some delicious local handmade fudge.nicola@mpel.co.uknicola@mpel.co.uk
