A huge array of local and international food will be on offer at Market Harborough’s Food and Drink Festival this bank holiday weekend
The two-day festival is being organized by Market Place, the UK’s leading operator of Continental and special event markets, and operator of Harborough Indoor Market. The event will be held in Welland Park, on Welland Park Road, on Sunday 28th and Monday 29th August 11am to 7pm and is aiming to showcase the very best of the regions producers.
Market Place are delighted to announce that the festival will include cooking demos on both days from BBC chef Stephanie Moon and celebrated chef Anjula Devi.
Stephanie Moon will be cooking on at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm, featuring recipes such as Market Harbour fresh Crab, Seabass and a roasted scallop, pea puree; Market Harborough Lamb cutlet, Feves, courgette, potato terrine and a fleuie sauce and for dessert a Spiced Apple Cake, flambéed Apples with hedgerow blackberries and brandy Sabayon.
Anjula Devi will be cooking at at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm, dishing up some tasty dishes for visitors to try including Masala Potatoes, Chicken Curry and quick and easy Spicy Vegetable Curry.
“We are really excited to be joined by Anjula and Stephanie,” said Market Place Market Manager and event organiser Sairah Butt. “Not only will the event showcase some of the region’s finest cuisine, it’s also a great opportunity for local people to pick up some cooking tips from some great and very contrasting chefs.”
Some of the foodie highlights to look out at the festival are French favourites such as Tartiflette and Moules au Roquefort from Ma Cuisine Francais, Southern style BBQ from Rolling Smoke, Stone baked Neapolitan pizzas from Wood Fired Kitchen, Mexican street food from Baja-Cantina, vegan and veggie goodies from local favourites Farrinheight Foods, mouth-wateringly tempting Alcoholic ice creams such as Gin and Lem’On Cheese Cake from Melt’On Luxury Alcoholic Ice Creams plus much, much more. There really is something from everyone.
Sairah Butt added, “We hope the people of Market Harborough are hungry! We have some brilliant food and drink on offer including a tapas stall, a fabulous patisserie stall, all things whiskey, macaroons, fudge, coffee, cheese, pancakes, great bars and brilliant chefs!”
The event also features a fun dog show on Sunday with registration at 12pm with all proceeds going to Wet Nose Animal Aid, sponsored by Husse Leicester who trade at Harborough Indoor Market on Tuesday and Saturday.
