I love Market Harborough Festival was a success!

Market Place, operator of the award winning Harborough Market, declared the fourth and last ‘I Love Market Harborough Festival’ the best one yet.
The free event, organised by Sustainable Harborough, took place on the Market Square on Saturday 1st July and saw 23 organisations from across the county come together to showcase their activities and importance to the local community.
The Harborough Market stall displayed pictures of the market from last century, the old cattle market, the launch of the new indoor market in 1938 and copies of the pipe rolls from 1203 which list the payment of 3 marks to the crown for the right to hold the market.
“Everyone really enjoyed looking at the old pictures and learning about the history of markets in their various guises throughout the town,” said Market Place and Harborough Market Manager, Sairah Butt.
“We gave away free goodie bags containing fruit, sweets, badges and information and vouchers from the indoor market traders, which went down a treat too. Everyone had lots of positive feedback about the current indoor market, which was lovely to hear,” Sairah added.
The aim of the festival was to raise awareness of sustainability and to show people how they can adopt more environmentally-friendly practices, whether that be in supporting local food and drink traders, supporting community gardening projects, or exploring sustainable energy practices.
