Newcastle to welcome first ever International Market to Grey and Grainger Street this May

After bringing the International Food and Drink Festival and the Christmas Market to Newcastle, Market Place is excited to bring a brand new International market with a huge variety of tasty treats and crafts from around the world for this fantastic 5-day International event!

From Wednesday 11th – Sunday 15th May 2016 Newcastle will be home to an array of over 30 traders bringing the very best of their country of origin and offering shoppers a unique global experience. Foodies will not be disappointed as they will be treated to the taste of Morocco through Moroccan Paradise as Lemarchand will be serving their traditionally made tartiflette, pate and charcuterie from the French Alps! The Greek Grill House will also be in Newcastle offering a range of popular Greek gyros, feta cheese pies and other traditional Greek favourites.



Heather Thurlaway, Operations Manager for the local council is looking forward to the markets arrival:
“A warm Geordie welcome to the International Market which becomes part of our established programme of street markets in the City Centre.  With crafts, gifts and food from around the world, I am sure it will be popular with visitors and shoppers alike and further enhance our reputation as a cosmopolitan City.”

In addition to all the tasty International flavours, there will be a fantastic range of crafts and gifts to explore. There will be a fantastic selection of South American Jewellery and Knitwear as well as the huge Dutch Flower market which will provide bulbs, plants, flowers and unique garden accessories, all transported from Holland. In addition to these, there will also be beautiful hand painted Russian dolls, hand crafted flower pot people, unique and interesting metal sculptures as well as a unique range of Jewellery made from recycled Cutlery and sculptures all the way from Africa!


Market Place Operations Manager, Chris Hulley is excited to bring this new event to Newcastle:

Wednesday to Saturday: 9:00am – 18:00pm

Sunday 10:00am.- 17:00pm
