Continental Market to return to Hanley, Stoke after high demand

After the huge success of the Continental Market in April earlier this year, Market Place is delighted to be returning to Hanley this October to bring even more Continental flavour and craft to Stoke! From Wednesday 21st – Sunday 24th October, an exciting variety of traders will be presenting a range of flavour, craft and gifts from across the world.

Some of the countries to be represented include India, Jamaica, Italy, Spain, Greece, Welsh, France, Germany, Belgium and more! All products will be authentic to the trader’s origin country, allowing shoppers to taste the true flavours of the world.

Councillor Abi Brown, deputy leader of the city council, said: “We had a fantastic reaction to the market from the public when it was held in April. There was a real buzz in the city centre as shoppers took the opportunity to sample foods from around the world, and take in the sights and smells of the continental market.

“What was great about the market was that it drew more people to the city centre, with footfall up by 20 per cent compared to the same period the previous week. Having more shoppers in the city centre is good news for all businesses and traders, and hopefully those who haven't visited for a while will be impressed with what they see and come back again soon.”

Tontine Square and upper market Square will be spoilt for choice with some taste bud teasing treats including Island Spice Grill’s Jamaican jerk chicken and veggie wraps. Italian traders Tentazioni UK will be bringing the delicious flavours of Italy to Hanley with a large spread of Italian cheeses, hams, Italian biscotti nougat and chocolate.

The Wiltshire Chilli Farm will be in Hanley, showing off some of their homemade chillis, which they use to make a selection of products such as sauces, jams and even chocolate. Will you dare try the Trinidad Scorpion Powder; the hottest chilli in the world?

Why not wash all that tasty food down with some enchanting Alcoholic Flavoured Mead wines in a variety of flavours.

Hanley will also be home to some fantastic crafts during the Continental Market where there will be a selection of wooden garden flower pot men, bringing real character to the Continental Market, perfect for your garden or even gifting for a loved one.

Market Place Manager, Marcus Axelby has said:

“After such a success in April, our traders are looking forward to returning to Hanley where we received a fantastic welcome and a very positive response. We will be bringing a great selection of traders with a variety of goodies, there is sure to be something for everyone.”

Visit the Continental Market, have a taste of our food, browse our products and of course, don’t be afraid to ask questions, our traders are always happy to help.

Opening hours of the market are:

Wednesday to Saturday: 09:00 to 17.30
