Pitch Perfect: Belfast Christmas Market 2016

Previous Winners
Pitch Perfect is a competition supported and organised by Market Place, operators of the Belfast Christmas Market. It offers a young business the unique opportunity to expose their products to over 1 million visitors at the award-winning Market FREE of charge. To date every winning business has gone on to continue trading and their business has received that all-important cash injection that is vital to success in the early stages of growth.

The competition is open to:
  • Businesses or sole traders operating for at least 6 months but for no more 24 months.
  • Businesses or sole traders selling quality products (in the categories listed below) deemed by Market Place to be of interest to visitors at the Belfast Christmas Market.

  • Art / Craft
  • Fashion
  • Food (not fast food, confectionery or drinks)
  • Handmade Toys
  • Festive themed products.






Winners will receive
  • A chalet at the Belfast Christmas Market from 19 November – 22 December 2016 
  • Inclusion in an extensive PR campaign
  • A business mentor session (3 hrs) in advance of the market opening.

Rules for entrants
  • Applicants must submit (by email) applications no later than Friday 16 September 2016 
  • All applicants must be aged 18 years or over
  • The business / sole trader must not be currently registered to trade as part of the Belfast Christmas Market
  • The business/ sole trader must have been trading or registered for no less than six months but for more than 24 months
  • Product samples cannot be included as part of the application
  • The business must be able to trade for the full opening hours of the Belfast Christmas Market: Saturday 19 November – Thursday 22 December 2016.
  • The winner is responsible for branding and dressing their chalet in conjunction with the Christmas Market guidelines
  • Canvassing will result in disqualification.

Itty Bitty Book Co. won Pitch Perfect in 2013 and have been able to return to join us every year since!

• All applications must be submitted by email to emma@marketplaceeurope.co.uk 
• The winning business will be notified w/c 26 September 2016
• The winning business must be in a position to begin trading from 12 noon on 19 November during the following hours*:

Mon – Wed 10am – 8pm
Thurs – Sat 10pm – 10pm 
Sunday 1pm – 6pm

* please note trading dates and times may be subject to change
- Thursday 22 December has been extended to 8 pm

    Pitch for a Free Market Stall at Harborough Market

    Harborough District Council is offering new food businesses the chance to test their business ideas for free at their award winning Harborough Indoor Market. Harborough Market, which is operated by Market Place, is participating in the high profile, Love Your Local Market Campaign led by the National Association of British Market Authorities. They are offering a 6-week rent free period in a bid to attract new traders to the hall and to promote the market as the ideal location for start-up businesses. Sairah Butt, Market Place and Harborough Market Manager said, “Many well-known brands started life on a market stall.
