Merry Christmas from Harborough Market

With so many fabulous things taking place at the Harborough Christmas Fayre on Friday 4th December, Harborough Market traders are reminding shoppers that they too are open until 9pm and are ready to join in all of the town’s festivities! So much so in fact that Crumbs! owners Simon and Trish Mayers are continuing their tradition of giving back to the town and are baking a huge Christmas celebration cake to wish the people of Harborough a Merry Christmas from all the traders at the market. Anyone that comes along to the market after 5.00pm can have a free slice of cake (while it lasts!) as a thank you for supporting the traders. “It’s been a good year for us,” said Simon Mayers. “We have expanded into a bigger unit, and the cake making side of the business is going from strength to strength. This is our way of saying thank you to everyone in the town that has supported us and our fellow traders.” Harborough Market Manager, Sairah Butt urged people not to forget that the market is pa...

Town Market Sees Cost Saving Lights Introduced

The installation of energy saving lights has been completed at Harborough Market which will lead to cost savings of over £11,000 a year.  Harborough District Council has introduced the environmentally-friendly LED lights at its market building in Northampton Road, Market Harborough.  The project, which will cost approximately £40,000, has been made possible thanks to the Department of Energy and Climate Change funded organisation Salix which provides local authorities with interest-free loans to improve energy efficiency.  In August, Harborough Market saw the introduction of solar panels on its roof to reduce energy costs. This latest installation will save the council more than £11,000 a year, resulting in a loan pay-back period of just four years.  Cllr Phil King, portfolio holder for strategic asset management, said: “It is fantastic that we’ve been able to install these energy saving lights at no cost to the council. This, on top of the installation of the s...

Belfast Trader: Blackthorn Foods

Our fudges are made using locally sourced ingredients.  We pride ourselves in producing a high quality handmade fudge made in open pots in the traditional way. Unlike many commercial fudge manufacturers our range of fudges are produced in small batches, hand beaten, hand cut and then wrapped for a truly artisan product. This gives our fudges a unique taste and textures that wins awards year on year. We manufacture an extensive range of gluten free flavours. All our flavours are natural, for example we use a real Jamaican rum in our Rum & Raisin fudge and not a flavouring. We also make a non dairy and soya free fudge suitable for vegans and those with dairy intolerances. Our range of fudges are available in a selection of pack sizes.  Blackthorn Foods is a local family business based in Belfast in Northern Ireland. We specialize in the making of award winning handmade fudge. Three sisters Cathy, Jenny and Dorothy spent 18 months researching the market, endless hours over th...
